Description
This chemistry center was established on July 1, 1965 by the "National Commission on Long-Term Scientific Development", the predecessor of the National Science Council (NSC), in Taiwan. It was organized by National Taiwan University and sponsored by Academia Sinica. In 1970, National Tsing Hua University joined as another sponsor. The sponsorship was terminated on July 1, 1983 and the title of the center was changed to "Chemical Science Research Center of National Science Council of the Executive Yuan". The main mission is to promote basic science research and academic collaborations among local scientific researchers. The current title of the center, "The Chemistry Research Promotion Center of the Natural Science Committee of the National Science Council of the Executive Yuan", was given in 1986. Because of an upgrade of NSC to Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on March 1, 2014, the title of the center is renamed as "The Chemistry Promotion Center of the Department of Natural Science and Sustainable Research Development, Ministry of Science and Technology". The center remains located at National Taiwan University.
