Description
Started in late nineteenth century, the development of internal medicine in Taiwan greatly influenced our medical education, research, prevention and treatments of various illnesses, especially the eradication of certain infectious diseases. With the collaborative effects of the past and current chairmen and colleagues, the Department of Internal Medicine at the National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) has been leading the diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, education system, and innovative researches in Taiwan. Inheriting their idealism, sense of mission, and endurance, we have created outstanding academia, and contributed significantly in the hospital's commitment in excellence.
There are currently 157 attending physicians, 140 residents contributed to the clinical therapies, educations, and researches at the department. There are 10 subspecialty divisions in our department, namely, cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, pulmonology, hematology and oncology, endocrinology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, general medicine and multidiciplinary medicine.
Our extended medical education team includes all the attending physicians of the department, adjunct faculty from affiliated hospitals. Other than teaching our students with medical knowledge, clinical skills, professional attitude, humanism, and medical ethics, we pay special attentions to postgraduate general medicine and subspecialty training. Our goal is to train our medical students into well-rounded physicians.
