Description
Information Management is a discipline that reflects both the wide applicability of information systems in support of business administration and the subtlety in ensuring the proper function of fundamental information systems themselves. The field of Information Management plays a significant role in our highly information-dependent society. Founded in 1991, the Department of Information Management aims to cultivate leaders in the field with solid foundations in Information Technology knowledge, proficient skills in professional management, and a broad vision in strategic thinking. The Department of Information Management, having successfully recruited many outstanding scholars, now has sixteen full-time faculty members. Their research interests are wide and varied, including Management Information Systems, E-commerce, Operations Management, Operations Research, Knowledge Management, Applied Econometrics, Information Economics, Information Security, Distributed Systems, Network Optimization, Data Mining, E-business, Information Technology and Innovation, Human Computer Interaction, and Computer Graphics. The faculty has published numerous important journal articles and conference papers and developed interdisciplinary projects to further stimulate research collaboration. Recently, our faculty has also aligned their research efforts with emerging technologies such as Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things, and Wearable Devices. The substantial academic achievement has earned our faculty many awards, including Academic Award of Ministry of Education, Distinguished Research Award of Ministry of Science and Technology, Ta-You Wu Memorial Award, the K.T. Li Young Researcher Award, Harold W. Kuhn Award, and several Best Paper Awards. Our faculty has collaborated with researchers at top universities such as University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Rice University, University of Maryland, the University of Tokyo, City University of Hong Kong. In recent years, the Dept. of Information Management has hosted several prominent international conferences, such as Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (2010), International Conference on Certified Programs and Proofs (2011), Frontiers in Service Conference (2013) and the Third Taiwan Summer Workshop on Information Management (2015). The interactions thus brought have helped extend the impact of our faculty’s research work to the international academic community.
After more than twenty years of endeavors, our faculty has made outstanding contributions to their respective research areas. We aspire to continue broadening the scope of our teaching and research and to elevate the merits of our scholarship by initiating more innovations in the future.
