Galileo Galilei said: “The book of nature is written in the language of mathematics”. Mathematics is the foundation of all modern sciences. A thorough understanding of mathematics is indispensable for every scientist and engineer. In our present society, mathematics and its many applications have become ubiquitous in nearly every professional sector. Since the department believes that the ability to reason analytically is crucial for every successful career, its curricula are designed to provide the students an environment to develop their analytical talents to the fullest. The expertise of faculty in the department covers most important areas in mathematics such as analysis, algebra, geometry analysis, algebraic geometry, number theory, partial differential equations, combinatorics, statistics and numerical computation.
