We describe a 37-year-old HIV-infected man who developed lipodystrophy after highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), leading to left leg disability. Radiography revealed osteonecrosis of the left femoral head, which appeared to be related to the antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection and subsequent development of lipodystrophy and hyperlipidemia. While osteonecrosis among Taiwanese HIV-infected patients is uncommon, the potential for the development of this long-term complication should be carefully monitored as more patients survive for longer periods after HAART.[SDGs]SDG3diclofenac; efavirenz; indinavir; lamivudine; nonsteroid antiinflammatory agent; ritonavir; saquinavir; simvastatin; zidovudine; adult; article; case report; femur head necrosis; gastrointestinal hemorrhage; heterosexuality; highly active antiretroviral therapy; human; Human immunodeficiency virus infection; hyperlipidemia; leg pain; lipodystrophy; male; osteoarthritis; patient monitoring; physical disability; pruritus; radiography; survival; Taiwan; Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome; Adult; Antiretroviral Therapy, Highly Active; Femur Head Necrosis; HIV-1; Humans; Lipodystrophy; MaleOsteonecrosis of the femoral head in a human immunodeficiency virus type 1-infected patient with lipodystrophyjournal article120510182-s2.0-0036265160
