However, the effects of resistance training on executive function in adults have not yet been explored. Therefore, this three-year proposal intends to systematically examine the effects of resistance training on executive function in adults. In the first year of the study, behavioral measures and neuroelectric indices of P300 during a task-switching paradigm will be regressed using muscular strength assessment in adults. In the second year, we will further examine the effects of acute resistance training on task switching in adults. The third year of the study will adopt a longitudinal design to address the effects of long-term resistance training on task switching in adults. The completion of this three-year project will further understand the neuroelectrical processes underpinning the beneficial effects of resistance training on executive function in adults. The results will also provide important practical implications for designing more effective exercise programs to improve executive functions in adults.
