A real-time fall-detection device worn on the waist was used to detect possible falls on the first stage. A moving robot with vision capability was adopted to interact with elders in daily life, and when the fall-detection device detects a possible fall-down event, the robot immediately changes its state to the falling confirmation state in order to confirm the fall event. At the second stage, the family members can remote operate the robot and with the visual identification mechanism to confirm the elders fall-down situation and find out the exact position of the falling. Taking this approach, family members can personally determine the best way to help the elders.
