<br> Abstract: Between civilizational complexities and their individual agents, scholarly texts are both liaisons and genesis that are full of possibilities. However, this is not particularly clear outside the English literature. The proposed five year project gather the problems and the promises of difference in the study of China and Chinese civilization by examining the limits and possibilities of distinct forms of Worlding and the global imaginaries they give rise to. China studies are not about a single global/regional reality that is experienced and responded to in different ways. While one form of global order might be hegemonic in particular registers, the world does not conform to this single version. An emphasis on Worlding brings to light the situatedness of knowledge and experience, and constitutes a call for re-connecting to their particular anchorings in myriad geocultural sites. Of special relevance to this project is the academic constitution of civilizations and their Worlding as they impact as well as proceed upon China studies. Following the steps of its various predecessors since 2002, this five year project will continue, upon the thrust of basic research, to conduct discursive analysis and content analysis of oral history of the senior China scholars all over the world, but especially over those neighboring postcolonial communities, with occasional extensions to various European communities, and develop projects to record, recollect, and induct the evolution of historical as well as contemporary literature on China pertaining to its civilizational underpinnings and individual scholars’ contextualized choices, depending on the language capacity of those who will join the project as the time goes on.
