Cloud computing offers an opportunity to provide the solutions to the current challenge, and its centralized data control feature not only upgrades the level of information security, but also allocates computational resources more effectively. Moreover, Cloud computing provides an advantage of minimizing the hardware requirements for the end users in a collaborative environment. In this research, we designed and constructed a "BIM collaboration cloud platform" based on Microsoft Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). The platform benefits from the advantages of cloud computing which helps facilitate the integration of information across disciplines during the design and construction phase. ©, 2014, Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering.
