We report nine subjects clinically in a putative prodromal state of psychosis who responded to low-dose aripiprazole within the first week of medication. We conjecture that the pathophysiological processes might be easier to modify by antipsychotics in the prodromal state and we believe a short-term low-dose trial of antipsychotic agents is a convenient option for subjects at ultra high risk of psychosis. We urge specific attention to monitor the dissolution of psychotic-like symptoms carefully in order to have a better understanding of the pathogenesis and pharmacotherapy in the inception of psychosis. ? 2010 The Authors.Aripiprazole; Dopamine hypothesis; Prodrome; Rapid response; Schizophrenia[SDGs]SDG3amisulpride; aripiprazole; lorazepam; quetiapine; adolescent; adult; article; auditory hallucination; blurred vision; clinical feature; controlled study; decreased appetite; disease course; dizziness; drowsiness; drug intermittent therapy; drug response; drug substitution; drug withdrawal; feasibility study; female; follow up; headache; human; leg pain; low drug dose; male; psychosis; restlessness; sedation; side effect; symptom; treatment duration; Adolescent; Adult; Antipsychotic Agents; Female; Humans; Male; Piperazines; Psychiatric Status Rating Scales; Psychotic Disorders; Quinolones; Treatment OutcomeRapid response to antipsychotic treatment on psychotic prodrome: Implications from a case seriesjournal article10.1111/j.1440-1819.2010.02070.x
