Research interest on how the human mind works has a long history, but the relation between mind and brain has remained an attractive but unresolved issue. Modern advances in neuroscience and cognitive science have since the end of the last century broadened and deepened – from genes, molecules, nerve cells, brain systems, explicit behavior, even to implicit mental processes – our understanding on how information is represented and processed in human brain. The Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Center (NCSC) of National Taiwan University (NTU) was founded in October, 2005. Our center aims to bring together devoted NTU scholars for cutting-edge research and education on neuroscience and cognitive science, in hope to shed light on this very “last frontier for human being”. Members of NCSC come from various backgrounds, and are affiliated with different departments of NTU as well as with the NTU Hospital. Currently, there are more than 100 faculty members from 8 different colleges in our center. And there are over 250 students in our Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Credit-Hour Program. In the coming new year, there are 5 specific aims for our research center at NTU. 1.To promote research spotlights 2.To refine our credit-hour program and strengthen sense of belonging among students 3.To facilitate multidisciplinary teamwork and translational research 4.To enhance international friendships and collaborations 5.To prepare for grant applicationsneurobiology, cognitive science, brain and mind, multidisciplinary approaches, credit courses, international collaboration, basic science, translational research神經生物與認知科學研究中心
