It presents with acute abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. The diagnosis relies on a collection of clinical, endoscopic and pathologic findings. We describe two patients presenting with bloody stools and acute abdominal pain. Ultrasonography showed segmental wall thickening of the sigmoid colon and descending colon, which suggested ischemic colitis. A definite diagnosis was achieved later by colonoscopic examination and tissue biopsy. The role of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of colonic disorder is discussed.[SDGs]SDG3abdominal pain; adult; article; case report; colon mucosa; colonoscopy; diarrhea; echography; female; gastrointestinal disease; human; intestine ischemia; ischemic colitis; ultrasoundRole of emergent ultrasonography in the diagnosis of ischemic colitis: Report of two casesjournal article2-s2.0-0032958296
