The structures of the new compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analyses and comparison of the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data with related steroids. The cytotoxicity of compounds 1-3 against the proliferation of a limited panel of cancer cell lines was assayed. Compound 1 was found to display moderate cytotoxicity against adenocarcinomic human alveolar basal epithelial (A549) cancer cells. It also exhibited potent anti-inflammatory activity by suppressing superoxide anion generation and elastase release in N-formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine/cytochalasin B (fMLP/CB)-stimulated human neutrophils. Furthermore, 3 could effectively inhibit elastase release, as well. ? 2018 by the authors.Anti-inflammatory activity; Cytotoxicity; Lobophytum michaelae; Soft coral[SDGs]SDG3[SDGs]SDG1423 norgorgost 5 en 3beta ol; 23 norgorgosterol; brassicasterol; elastase; gorgosterol; idelalisib; methylcholesterol; michosterol A; michosterol B; michosterol C; steroid; superoxide; unclassified drug; antiinflammatory agent; cytochalasin B; cytotoxin; formylmethionylleucylphenylalanine; pancreatic elastase; steroid; superoxide; A-549 cell line; antiinflammatory activity; Article; cell proliferation; controlled study; coral; DLD-1 cell line; drug cytotoxicity; drug efficacy; drug potency; drug structure; enzyme release; human; human cell; IC50; in vitro study; LNCaP cell line; Lobophytum michaelae; neutrophil; Taiwan; animal; Anthozoa; chemistry; drug effect; metabolism; nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; procedures; tumor cell line; A549 Cells; Animals; Anthozoa; Anti-Inflammatory Agents; Cell Line, Tumor; Cell Proliferation; Cytochalasin B; Cytotoxins; Humans; Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy; N-Formylmethionine Leucyl-Phenylalanine; Neutrophils; Pancreatic Elastase; Steroids; SuperoxidesAnti-inflammatory polyoxygenated steroids from the soft coral lobophytum michaelaejournal article10.3390/md160300932-s2.0-85044418262WOS:000428510200019
