When minerals crystallize, they record the variations of the environments in the shapes of the crystals and in their kinetic processes. Many geologic parameters could be derived, and by which the corresponding hypothesis and models could be established. In real applications, nucleation and crystallization are also closely related to the synthesis of gem-mineral crystals and, for example, the silicon wafer crystals in semiconductor industry. This proposal is the second year of last year’s project and continuously focus on the training of four sophomore students; teach them the necessary knowledge, and train them the basic experimental skills on the nucleation and crystal growth, so that they’ll be able to apply the knowledge to the study of geosciences, materials science, chemistry, and chemical industry, etc. Four books involving nucleation and crystal growth theories are chosen as textbooks, three are earth sciences and one is materials science. However, it is necessary to carefully choose and simplify the contents so that the students can learn effectively. In practice, we’ll focus on the synthesis experiments of some simple minerals. In this year, the students will learn master kinetics model (MKC) as well as other kinetics models, VBA computer language, simple computer simulation methods and synthesis experiments of minerals. In addition, the students in this project will join another electrocrystallization project proposed by Professor C.S. Lin of department of Materials Science and Engineering, to form a multi-discipline team. Each proposal recruits both students from Geosciences and Materials Science, so that the students could work and learn together more closely during the proposed year period.礦物成核結晶生長化學動力學主導動力學曲線模型。mineralsnucleationcrystal growchemical kineticsmaster kinetic curve model (MKC).大學跨學門科學人才培育銜接計畫-礦物晶體之成核及結晶生長研究計畫
