Abstract: The Sunda Shelf barrier (SSB) is one of the major tropical marine biogeographic barriers and separates biota from two major ocean basins (Indian and Pacific). However, the effect of SSB was often questioned, as the localities of the biogeographic breaks were found inconsistent or no breaks at all. Advanced comparative surveys of species from various zoological groups are still needed to evaluate the role of the SSB on the “genealogical” structure of marine species inhabiting the Indo-West Pacific, particularly in Indomalayan realm. In this project, we used molecular approaches in systematic biology to 1.test the significance of the SSB to evolution of the marine fishes; 2.examine the influence of different ecological or habitat preference on the contemporary patterns of genetic diversity and divergence; 3.investigate the hidden diversity of marine fishes in this region in order to have better insight and accurate diversity information.生物多樣性生物地理印度-西太平洋演化生物條碼biodiversitybiogeographyIndo-PacificEvolutionDNA-Barcoding人力結構改善/海洋所/Testing the significance of the Sunda Shelf barrier to the evolution of marine fishes in Indomalayan realm
