An epistemological review of this sort enables the postcolonial scholars in Taiwan to locate the past research in both societies each in its historical context. When this is done, the academic community in Taiwan can legitimately develop indigenous theoretical perspectives on China. The project begins with the assumption that China research and the image of China are mutually constituted. Political, social and economic relations between China and other communities affect the research of China in those communities. This current project collects data of these complicated relations and reviews the evolution of the China agenda in selected China research community in India, including the evolution of methodology, subject matter, curriculum, student enrollment as well as research funding. The methods of the project are manifolds: the oral history method dealing with senior China scholars concerning their career path; in-depth interview method, the evolution pf curriculum and funding in specific institutions; and the method of literature review, the evolution of research agenda. To execute this project, the project director will cooperate the Indian academic scholars. The larger project will eventually serve as a platform for each research community, including Taiwan and India, to exchange their self-critical reviews.印度中國研究口述歷史IndiaChina studiesoral history「中國學」知識社群之跨國研究(屬於印度子計畫)
