We report a case of persistent Candida parapsilosis funguria associated with urinary tract instrumentation. Molecular typing suggested that during a 7 year period the C. parapsilosis isolates were all the same strain. Prolonged antifungal therapy and regular catheter replacement failed to eradicate the funguria, but improved urinary symptoms and pyuria. The antifungal susceptibility pattern did not significantly change during the clinical course despite repeated exposure to fluconazole. ? 2008 SGM.[SDGs]SDG3amphotericin B; caspofungin; fluconazole; voriconazole; adult; antibiotic sensitivity; antifungal susceptibility; article; Candida parapsilosis; candiduria; case report; catheter; catheter complication; clinical feature; controlled study; disease course; drug dose increase; drug exposure; drug treatment failure; drug withdrawal; fungal strain; human; long term exposure; male; molecular typing; priority journal; pyuria; strain identification; ureter stent; ureter stricture; urogenital tract infection; Antifungal Agents; Candida; Candidiasis; Fluconazole; Humans; Male; Microbial Sensitivity Tests; Middle Aged; Time Factors; Urinary Catheterization; Urinary Tract Infections; UrinePersistent Candida parapsilosis funguria associated with an indwelling urinary tract stent for more than 7 yearsjournal article10.1099/jmm.0.2008/003202-0190180342-s2.0-57749198438
