Three types of Taiwanese aid are discussed: as part of the Marshall Islands trust fund, as part of the Marshall Islands governmental budget, and the Taiwan Technical Mission. While Taiwan's aid plays a role in upgrading agricultural and rural development, it is also embroiled in controversies such as mixed local empowerment and constraints by the Cold War legacy. © 2010 by the Regents of the University of California.Foreign aid; Pacific islands; Republic of the Marshall Islands; Taiwan China diplomatic competition; Taiwan technical Missions[SDGs]SDG1development aid; diplomatic relations; international aid; Marshall Islands; TaiwanTaiwan's foreign aid and technical assistance in the marshall islandsjournal article10.1525/as.2010.50.6.11842-s2.0-78650432432WOS:000285386100008
