This project adopts newly-developed spatial analysis and spatial econometrics to probe into the spatial-temporal patterns of regional inequality in Taiwan. Applications of such methods can not only explicitly take spatial interactions and spillover into account from a substantive perspective, but also solve the statistical inference problems caused by spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity from a methodological perspective. For deeper understanding the social conditions of region inequality, we bring the concept of “social exclusion” into this project regarding the deprivations of political, social, and civil rights extensively. This project will be executed in three years. In the beginning, we seek to set up the population geo-database as well as the procedure of spatial econometrics. Following first year, an empirical investigation of the spatial-temporal patterns of regional income in Taiwan will be conducted. Eventually, social exclusion indices of Taiwan will be established to explain regional inequality in depth. We expect to conclude this project by proposing how to balance regional development.區域不均區域所得空間分析空間計量社會排斥Region InequalityRegion IncomeSpatial AnalysisSpatial EconometricsSocial Exclusion台灣區域不均之空間計量與資料挖掘
