<br> Abstract: Background: Migraine is the third most prevalent disease around the world. Migraine is also ranked theseventh most common cause of disability. The likelihood that women have migraine is three times of thelikelihood that men have migraine. Such figures exhibit the importance of research on migraine amongwomen.Purpose: This project has two purposes. In the first year, this project will translate and test theMigraine-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire version 2.1 (MSQ version 2.1). In the second and the thirdyears, this project will use that scale to investigate the relations among migraine, quality of life, andmenstruation cycle among women in reproductive age. Methods: In the first year, four bilinguals will be recruited to forward and backward translate the scale. Onenative speaker will finalize the scale translation. A pilot test with 10 reproductive women will be conductedto fill in the scale and to interview their opinions for modifying the wording. Modifications will be donebasing on the results of the pilot test. Subsequently, 200 participants will be recruited (expected 140 validresponses) to examine the reliability and validity of the translated scale. In the second and the third years, the translated scale will be used to measure quality of life among women having migraine. Headache diarywill be used to collect migraine-related data for three months. Participants will be asked to record theirmenstruation cycle. Another 300 women having migraine (expected to have 107 participants goingthroughout this study) will be recruited to complete the Migraine Disability Assessment Scale, Brief PainInventory – Traditional Chinese version, Patient Health Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of PerceivedSocial Support, and provide their demographic information. Data will be analyzed by descriptive analysis,repeated-measure ANOVA, and Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE). Power analysis was adopted forestimating sample size.Expected Contributions: This project can provide an adequate scale for measuring migraine-specificquality of life, in its Chinese version. This scale will facilitate scholars using Chinese language to conductfuture measurement on migraine-specific quality of life and conduct related studies in the future. Moreover, this project will examine the migraine syndrome and its related factors. Such an examination likely providesinsight for designing clinical interventions in the future.偏頭痛婦女生活品質育齡期月經週期migrainewomenquality of lifereproductive agemenstruation cycleQuality of Life among Women Living with Migraine
