This correlation is related to the absence of less massiveiant planets (< 1 Jupiter mass) within 0.035AU from their parent stars. We employumerical simulations to model the orbital evolution of a planet inside the magneto-pheric cavity of a proto-planetary disk and compare the results with the observationalata. Our numerical result shows that while a massive planet can cause e ective stellarides accompanied with a magnetic torque on its star and then undergoes an orbit decay, less massive planet either survives or destructs at the 2:1 resonance with the innerdge of the disk depending on the eccentricity. We suggest that the tidal and magneticnteractions between young hot Jupiters and their parent proto-stars can explain theass-semimajor axis correlation for hot Jupiters.1 Introduction 7 Description of The Model 12.1 Magnetic Interaction . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 13.1.1 Stellar Model . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 13.1.2 Magnetospheric Cavity . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 15.1.3 Star-Disc Magnetic Linkage . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 17.1.4 Star-Planet Magnetic Linkage . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 20.2 Tidal Interaction . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 22.2.1 Tides on the Planet . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 22.2.2 Tides on the Star . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 27.3 Equations for our simulation . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 28 Results 30.1 Large Cavity . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 31.2 Small Cavity . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 47 Summary and Discussion 53eference 58application/pdf4430701 bytesapplication/pdfen-US系外行星行星形成原始行星盤extrasolar planetsplanet formationprotoplanetary disk原始行星盤內熱木星與母恆星之間的潮汐及磁交互作用Tidal and magnetic interactions between a hot Jupiter and its host star in a protoplanetary diskhttp://ntur.lib.ntu.edu.tw/bitstream/246246/178561/1/ntu-97-R95244006-1.pdf
