These events would trigger correspondent actions, which is the fundamental function of perception. Different from previous studies using simple stimuli within a single modality, this three-year project aims at using complex stimuli to examine cross-modal perception and appraisal. Six series of studies are proposed, in which faces, objects, natural scenes, environmental sounds, music, and speech will be used as stimuli to examine the effect of semantic congruency on visual-audio integration (perception), and the following emotional judgment and preference (appraisal). Cross-modal perception is one of the hottest issues at present, but rare studies have attempted to link perception to appraisal. Our pioneering attempt here would certainly make a mark in this field.視聽整合:從知覺到感受
