By grouping these ideas, a new type of material was synthesized. In the present investigation, Eosin Y, a xanthenes type dye was functionalized with MWCNT via ethylene diamine (EDA) as a coupling agent. The Eosin Y functionalized MWCNT was characterized by the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. ? 2010 IEEE.[SDGs]SDG3Apoptosis; Cancer cells; Coupled effect; Eosin Y; Ethylene diamine; Functionalized; Functionalized-MWCNT; Materials scientist; Photo-thermal; Photodynamic effect; SEM; Synthesis and characterizations; TEM; UV visible spectroscopy; Cell death; Coupling agents; Ethylene; Fourier transforms; Nanotechnology; Photodynamic therapy; Photoluminescence spectroscopy; Scanning electron microscopy; Transmission electron microscopy; Ultraviolet spectroscopy; X ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCN)Synthesis and characterization of Eosin Y functionalized MWCNTjournal article10.1109/NMDC.2010.5652428
