We will then mix these MOFs nanoparticles with organic polymers to make several types of mixed matrix membrane (MMM) for pervaporation and desalination. This subproject provides various kinds of membrane materials for solar-powered membrane distillation. In order to achieve the maximum performance of autonomous solar-powered membrane, it requires new membrane materials with controllable structural properties and excellent separation ability. The compositions and morphologies of these materials will be synthesized using green chemistry, where water will be used as the solvent. The fabricated MOFs nanoparticles and the relevant MMM will be characterized with XRD, SEM and surface properties. The fabricating process parameters will be optimized to prepare crack-free MMM with uniformity and stability. Ability of separation will be performed by pervaporation and desalination systems. MOFs exhibit both advantages of inorganic metals and organic linkers, leading to their outstanding performance in many fields in catalysis, gas storage and separation.
