Towards the end of Tang dynasty, there is no other important work in the form of yishu to be found. The candidates sitting for the mingjing discipline of the imperial examination in Tang dynasty is examined according to Wujing zhengyi and other commentaries of canons. It is also recorded that in order to sit for the examination in the mingjing discipline, the candidates must learn the commentaries of the canons by heart. The number of candidates in this category is normally ten times as much as those who take the examination in the jinshi discipline. Moreover, after 681(Tang Gaozong, Yonglong second year), candidates sitting in the jinshi discipline have to be tested of their knowledge of the classics. Those successful candidates of mingjing and jinshi disciplines thereafter become important imperial officials, and most leave behind collection of writings. How does the classics influence these officials who have profound knowledge of the classics? What are their opinions of canonical studies? These are issues worth looking into. If we could conduct an in-depth study of all materials related to canonical studies in the collection of writings in the Tang period, it is possible to shed some light on another stratum of Tang canonical studies other than commentary studies. This research project aims to give an all round study and analysis of all existing Tang Collection of Writings, looking particularly into the area of canonical studies and its relations with commentaries. Besides individual collection of writings, collections like Chuan Tangwen and Chuan Tangshi, are also included in our area of research. Furthermore, Tang Collection of Writings functions as supplement to the canons, what are the motive and ideology behind these works and their effects are also to be discussed. This research project would contribute tremendously to the understanding of canonical studies in the Tang period when accomplished.application/pdf101036 bytesapplication/pdfzh-TW國立臺灣大學中國文學系暨研究所唐代經學唐代文集Canonical studies in Tang periodCollection of Writings in Tang period唐代文集中所見經學資料之研究reporthttp://ntur.lib.ntu.edu.tw/bitstream/246246/4407/1/912411H002025.pdf
