One shunt thrombosed and another shunt was stenotic. Both cases had recurrent varices without bleeding. In the remaining 5 cases, long term shunt patency was verified and varices diminished. Hepatic encephalopathy annoyed only one case whose liver function was poor and mild encephalopathy was noted preoperatively Liver function tests didn't deteriorate during the period of postoperative observation but hypersplenism was not significantly ameliorated in our series. It is concluded that distal splenorenal shunt is a safe and effective surgical procedure for treatment of esophageal variceal bleeding, especially with some experience.en-US遠端脾腎靜脉分流術食道靜脉曲張出血distal splenorenal shuntesophageal variceal bleedingModified Distal Splenorenal Shunt in the Treatment of Esophageal Variceal Bleeding改良型遠端脾腎靜脈分流術對於食道靜脈曲張出血之療效journal article10.6557/GJTa.198506_2(2).0004https://www.airitilibrary.com/Publication/alDetailedMesh?DocID=a0000204-198506-2-2-83-88-a&PublishTypeID=P001
