The proposed routing approach can extend the system lifetime of the network. A new routing decision index is also proposed for the route selection mechanism, which takes both the shortest-path and the maximum system lifetime into consideration and dynamically adjusts its weight between them according to the energy usage of the network. Experiment results show that, the proposed routing protocol provides a higher performance than other well-known power-aware routing protocols in terms of the energy-efficiency. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2006.[SDGs]SDG7Data transfer; Energy efficiency; Energy utilization; Network protocols; Routers; Advanced traffic management systems; Embedded systems; Intelligent buildings; Mobile ad hoc networks; Mobile security; Multimedia services; Network routing; Network security; Power management; Radio frequency identification (RFID); Routing protocols; Sensor networks; Software reliability; Telecommunication networks; Ubiquitous computing; Multi Route Transmission; Power aware routing protocols; Route selection mechanism; Routing decision index; Balanced energy consumption; Multiple routes; Route Selection; Routing approach; Routing decisions; Shortest path; System lifetimes; Mobile telecommunication systems; Power management (telecommunication)A Power-Aware Routing Protocol Using Multi-Route Transmission for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks.conference paper10.1007/11807964_55https://doi.org/10.1007/11807964_55
