The objective of the program is to establish a solid foundation in Chinese-English translation. At the core of this Chinese-English Translation program are classes that provide students with a unique and meaningful academic experience as they refine their language skills. Courses include Translation Principles, Chinese and English Written Translation, Chinese to English Translation, Chinese and English Subtitle Translation, and National Palace Museum History and Heritage. These course are taught by renown faculty in the academic fields of Translation & Interpretation and Foreign Languages & Literature. Students will strengthen their practical skills through the translation practicum and discussion sessions in courses. At the end of the program, students are required to create English subtitles for an 8-13 minute video online. To immerse students in the teaching and research environment of translation in Taiwan, this program offers visits to institutes such as the National Central Library and Center for Chinese Studies, National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Office of the President, Lungshan Temple and National Palace Museum. This program also incorporates a diverse range of cultural activities and trips designed to expand students’ understanding of Taiwan. Chinese Classics and Culture Program has been designed for international students who are non-native speakers of Chinese and have advanced English and Chinese skills. The objective of the program is to strengthen students’ knowledge of Chinese classics and cultures. The lecture topics include I-Ching, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism, and the lectures are conducted mainly in English. To enhance students’ understanding of the ways in which Chinese classic cultures are rooted and applied in Taiwan, this program arranges several visits, such as to the Confucius Temple, Lungshan Temple and the National Palace Museum.
