This initiative pre-dates the strong interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and the current pressing need to assemble big data for training foundation AI models. Since then, 304dB has grown into a collection of 17 soil/rock property databases, eight cone penetration test databases, three geospatial databases, and three liquefaction databases. This paper reviews the current contents of 304dB and its impact, including the impact on state-of-the-art report, second generation Eurocode 7, data-centric geotechnics, data-driven probabilistic site characterization, benchmark examples, education, among others. This paper also discusses possible directions for the future expansion of 304dB.304dBdata-centric geotechnicsdata-driven site characterizationdatabasesISSMGE TC304Overview and future prospect of ISSMGE TC304 open-access databases (304dB)review10.1093/iti/liaf004
