We propose that company performance and R&D investment have mutual effects, and the magnitude of these mutual effects varies with different national cultures, different company rewarding systems, and different decision-making patterns of management teams. Related hypotheses are developed and tested on the data of the US and Taiwanese technology-intensive companies during 19982003, and are generally supported by the statistical results. © 2011 World Scientific Publishing Co. and Center for Pacific Basin Business, Economics and Finance Research.company performance; R&D investment; technology-intensive company; US and Taiwan[SDGs]SDG9decision making; industrial enterprise; investment; performance assessment; research and development; Taiwan; United StatesThe impacts of R&D investment on company performance: US vs. Taiwanese technology-intensive industryjournal article10.1142/S02190915110021842-s2.0-79953170933https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-79953170933&doi=10.1142%2fS0219091511002184&partnerID=40&md5=3bebfeb52ad5a7142626670050478703
