At first only an M.S. program was established; in 1986 the Ph.D. program was established. To date, we have had 95 M.S. and 6Ph.D. graduates. Many of the M.S. graduates continued further studies and are working in academic or research Institutes in Taiwan and abroad. The graduate program of the Department of Parasitology is currently a division under the Graduate Institute of Microbiology. If the proposal to establish an independent Institute of Parasitology is approved, we could recruit more teaching staff. Several qualified teaching staff with respective specialties and good research experience will be appointed. The subjects of Molecular Parasitology, Parasite Immunology, Vector-Borne Diseases, AIDS Related Opportunistic Infections, and Host-Parasite interaction together with Medical Malacology and Medical Entomology, will be emphasized. The educational programs of the new Graduate Institute of Parasitology will broaden the teaching curriculum and provide better research facilities for research scientists.​本學組隸屬於微生物​學研究所，1965年8月成立，招收碩士班研究生，1986年8月開始招收博士班研究生。師資方面目前有專任教師3人，合聘教師1人， 兼任教師3人。 本單位之教育目標在於培養高級之寄生蟲醫事人員及寄生蟲學研究人才，以提供國內基礎與臨床醫學單位對此專業人才之需求。日後如蒙准予獨立為寄生蟲學研究所，擬增加5名博士級師資，以分子寄生蟲學及寄生蟲免疫學為本所研究及教學之重點，並加強醫學軟體動物學、醫學昆蟲學、寄生蟲生理學等課程，使本所之教學範疇不致偏於一端，務期從面的擴展，質的提昇，研究的精進，從而達致本所之教育目標。​Academic Institute
