Clasical Monte Carlo (Me) method is the fundamental method, but requires a very large sample size. The importance sapling (IS) technique has been proposed to signifcantly reduce the required sample size for estimating the bit error rate (BER) of binary systems. In this paper an improved approach for this problem is presented, in which the BER and symbol error rate (SER) of binary a well a multilevel systems are discussed for both clasical MC ad various IS techniques. Numerical simulation results are frther provided to support the discussion. © 1992 IEEE.application/pdf334495 bytesapplication/pdfen-USErrors; Importance sampling; Monte Carlo methods; Sampling; Binary systems; Digital transmission system; Error rate; Importance sampling simulation; Multi-level systems; Sample sizes; Symbol error rate (SER); Transmission systems; Bit error rateAn improved approach for importance sampling simulation in multilevel digital transmission systemsconference paper10.1109/ICC.1992.2681532-s2.0-85066311799http://ntur.lib.ntu.edu.tw/bitstream/246246/2007041910032279/1/00268153.pdf
