Many indigenous young adults nowadays have experienced increased microaggressions above and beyond discriminations through social interactions while residing in urban areas. Recent studies in the United States indicated that microaggression is detrimental to physical health, mental health, as well as self and tribal identities among the indigenous population. Therefore, many indigenous advocacy groups in the United States have urged the establishment of knowledge and awareness toward microaggression among service providers to the indigenous population. Research examining the concept of microaggression in Taiwan is lacking. Investigation about microaggression experiences among urban indigenous young adults is also almost non-existing. To increase the understanding about microaggression among this population, this study will investigate their coping strategies and experiences toward microaggression to promote awareness among service providers. This study is a two-year planning project. In phase one, we aim to collect experiences and coping strategies toward microaggressions by conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups among urban indigenous young adults. In phase two, we aim to increase awareness and explore ways to prevent and intervene microaggression by conducting focus groups among service providers. Thematic analysis will be applied to analyze data. The findings of this study will be published as a guiding manual for service providers as a final product. This project aims to translate knowledge from research into practice to establish cultural relevant services for the urban indigenous population to prevent microaggression in the future.微歧視歧視都市原住民原住民青年microaggressiondiscriminationurban indigenous peoplesindigenous young adults都市原住民青年微歧視經驗之探究與翻轉
