國立臺灣大學電機工程學系暨研究所廖婉君2006-07-252018-07-062006-07-252018-07-062001-07-31http://ntur.lib.ntu.edu.tw//handle/246246/7815本計畫是總計劃「多媒體與多重服務 之數位用戶迴路通訊系統」下之子計畫四 「數位用戶迴路上網路電話與代理伺服器 服務之設計」之第一年計畫。 本計畫以網路協定設計分析及服務軟 體設計為主,在總計畫的整合下,以設計 數位用戶迴路通訊系統網路上之網路電話 服務及網路伺服器的通訊協定為主要課 題。 由於數位用戶迴路的「非對稱頻寬」 特性,對於目前已存在的協定及相關的各 項服務應用,有效能上的不良影響。因 此,第一年中我們首先建構測試平台,並 研究非對稱數位用戶迴路的頻寬特性對於 網際網路傳輸層協定 (TCP) 所帶來的影 響。目前雖有方法改善頻寬非對稱網路上 TCP 的效能,但無法獲得最大的頻寬使用 率。因此我們設計提出了一個新的協定- TCP Formosa,可以在「非對稱網路」上 得到最大的頻寬利用。此外我們也利用模 擬軟體-ns2 , 驗證所提出的TCP Formosa,無論在頻寬使用率、公平性及 錯誤修正上都有較佳的表現。 本計劃成果已發表於IEEE ICC 2001 (International Conference on Communications 2001 )。As a sub-project of the joint project entitled “xDSL Multimedia Multi-service Communications System,” this project, named “Voice over IP (VoIP) and Web Proxy over xDSL,” attempts to design both VoIP and Web proxy services over xDSL developed by the other sub-projects in a three-year span. The asymmetric transmission feature of xDSL creates many new problems for existing Internet protocols and causes many challenges for multimedia services to be widely deployed In the first year, we have set up a testbed using a commercial xDSL for our system in the Internet Research Lab. of the Electrical Engineering Department at National Taiwan University. After investigating the asymmetric characteristic of transmission in xDSL, we proposed a TCP variation named ‘Formosa TCP’ as a transport layer protocol to achieve better performance in the environment of asymmetric broadband access network like xDSL. We also conducted simulations using ns2 to evaluate the performance of our protocol with other protocols. The preliminary results of this project have been published on the proc.
