The bio-fibers are the natural polymer of bacterial cellulose, which has been used as a cosmetic dressing. In the first year, the physico-chemical properties of the bacterial cellulose under different processing parameters will be characterized and in vitro cell culture as well as in vivo animal experiments will be conducted to select the appropriate processing parameters and confirm the efficacy and safety of the bio-fibers. In the second year, antibacterial components such as nanosilver or chitosan will be introduced in the fabrication process to equip the bio-fibers with antibacterial activities. The adequate sterilization method and validation of sterility will be established. Through this two-year project, we expect to bring the potential bio-fibers into the medical device market as novel dressing materials.生物纖維敷料之開發與應用(2/2)
