<br> Abstract: his main project is proposed by Drs. Chen-Tung Yen (professor, Institute of Zoology), Wen-Sung Lai (assistant professor, Department of Psychology), Fu-Shan Jaw (associate professor, Institute of Biomedical Engineering), and Jyh-Horng Chen (professor, Department of Electrical Engineering) at National Taiwan University with assist from director, Kai-Yuan Tzen in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, National Taiwan University Hospital and professor Keng-Chen Liang in the Department of Psychology, National Taiwan University. This 2-year project aims at recruiting undergraduate students from different departments and providing extra training in reading references and learning basic and advance lab techniques to these students in order to combine such scientific trainings to study brain imaging. The excellent research environment and the neuroscience faculty in National Taiwan University will offer a multidisciplinary learning setting to stimulate and help prepare the next generation of neuroscientists in Taiwan. Behavioral Neuroscience plays a crucial role in modern medicine and neuroscience. This sub-project concentrates on providing prospective students with basic and advance training and knowledge of behavioral neuroscience and brain imaging. Each student will go over a series of lab training (including animal care, reading reference and learning lab skill) and further receive advance training in using knockout/transgenic mice as a model system and combining animal PET and micro-MRI as research tools to further study brain science. This training project will be beneficial for these students in NTU to learn multidisciplinary knowledge and techniques.
