Gender study has provided new perspectives for the construction of anthropological knowledge. It concerns how gender works as the key symbol while constructing a person’s identification and socio-cultural orders; as well as how the locals are able to change this order through practicing and performing the gender image. This study will make a comparison between the Chinese and the Malay in Malaysia in terms of exploring how the gender image and women’s roles in these two communities plays an important part in transforming capitalism and inventing their own culture.校長機動-推動南島文化研究中心(子計畫十)--性別、資本主義與文化的再創造:馬來西亞馬來社群與華人社群的比較研究
