For asynchronous transmission, optical orthogonal code (OTC) is utilized as signature sequence. System performance is evaluated under chip synchronous case among different users, and thermal noise, avalanche photodiode (APD) noise, and interference are taken into consideration. Numerical results show that our proposed scheme can further reduce the error floor up to several orders over systems that using only double optical hardlimiters.Code division multiple access (CDMA); Double optical hardlimiters; Multiple access interference; Trellis-coded schemeAsynchronous transfer mode; Avalanche diodes; Bit error rate; Optical systems; Photodiodes; Thermal noise; Trellis codes; Avalanche photodiodes (APD); Optical orthogonal codes (OOC); Code division multiple accessTrellis-coded asynchronous optical CDMA systemsjournal article10.1109/50.9178742-s2.0-0035245329
