We report an immunocompetent patient who developed A. odontolyticus liver abscess, and was successfully treated with antibiotics for 6 weeks and abscess drainage. The isolate could not be identified accurately by one commercial biochemical method and was documented to species level by partial sequencing analysis of 16S rRNA genes. ? 2010 Urban & Vogel.[SDGs]SDG3amoxicillin; ceftriaxone; creatinine; nitrogen; RNA 16S; sultamicillin; abscess drainage; Actinomyces; actinomyces odontolyticus; aged; article; case report; computer assisted tomography; diarrhea; drug substitution; drug withdrawal; echography; epigastric pain; flatulence; follow up; human; immunocompetence; leukocyte count; liver abscess; male; nonhuman; nucleotide sequence; RNA sequence; sequence analysis; Actinomyces; Actinomycosis; Aged; Anti-Bacterial Agents; Drainage; Humans; Liver Abscess; Male; Radiography, Abdominal; Tomography, X-Ray Computed; Treatment OutcomeLiver abscess due to Actinomyces odontolyticus in an immunocompetent patientjournal article10.1007/s15010-010-0063-7211530432-s2.0-79952414349
