The relevant surveillances should be collaboratively carried out between health authorities and agriculture administrations. The objective of the project is to establish the national surveillance system ( or surveillance network ) to the reservoir host animals of these emerging and re-emerging zoonotic agents. Through the subsidization with the necessary materials, labor and equipment, we will contribute routine monitoring to all the important zoonoses. Outcomes of the surveillance and monitering will provide the reference for decision-making of zoonoses control policy. The first year of the plan is to establish the routine monitoring and surveillances for three diseases: the West Nile virus in wild birds and horses, the rodent-borne Hanta virus, and leptospirosis. There will be more emerging zoonoses added such as scrub typhus, Q fever, lyme disease and plague in the second and third year.
