Taiwan is an important production area for avocado in Asia, and we have many local cultivars that adapt to the Asian climate. In the face of extreme weather in the world, the avocados with the shallow-root system are sensitive to flooding. The plants will be withering, defoliation, browning and necrosis of the roots, which seriously affects production. The aim of this project is to investigate the physiological changes in Taiwan`s avocado cultivars in the face of flooding and to screen for physiological indicators suitable for use in flooding tolerances. The flooding stress causes the hypoxia environment. The gene expression related to maintaining nutrient and plant defense response changed significantly. We will compare the differences in gene expression between varieties of Taiwanese avocado cultivars, in order to screen differential expression by related sequences and the sequences will be the candidates as a molecular marker for assisted breeding. The expectation of this project is to understand the response of avocados in the face of adversity and the differences between cultivars in different directions. Combining plant physiological characterization and molecular marker performance, we are trying to develop useful breeding markers and to reduce the damage caused by the flooding in the avocado industry.淹水砧木基因分子標誌floodingrootstockgenic molecular markers酪梨耐淹水之關鍵生理指標與篩選模式建立
