2007-06-012024-05-15https://scholars.lib.ntu.edu.tw/handle/123456789/665465摘要:颱風研究一直是大氣科學領域裡最具挑戰性的重要課題,亦是社會大眾關注的焦點。2002年至2008年、在國家科學委員會(國科會)支持下,此計畫主持人一直擔任「颱風重點研究」主持人職務。目前,這項計畫在觀測、模式化及理論方面的研究成果已有相當的成果,並受到國際矚目。 有鑑於此研究的相關議題的重要性,依循台大前瞻性計畫的綱要,我們提出幾項最具關鍵性的颱風研究議題,其中包括:策略性颱風觀測,颱風與海洋間的交互作用,颱風動力機制等。未來也將延伸探討台灣地區與颱風相關的中尺度結構及降雨分佈,以及多尺度交互作用及氣候觀點的颱風問題。 這項計劃採用的策略包含三個關鍵要素:硬體、軟體及人才。亦即,除了配合從國科會及中央氣象局所獲得的研究經費外,此研究計畫經費將強調以下三個方向:(一)購置專業的觀測及運算工具、(二)支持及培養有潛力的新進科學家及年輕學子(三)支持國際研究交流:包含研究人員及學生的國際交換計畫,以及參與及舉辦國際性研討會。 我們期盼此項計畫能充分探討具前瞻性的颱風研究議題,以做出國際級的研究成果,在颱風研究領域成為國內外舉足輕重之研究團隊。 <br> Abstract: The dynamics of typhoons and the prediction of typhoons are among the most challenging research topics in Atmospheric Sciences in Taiwan, and have always been of great concern to the society as a whole. The PI (Chun-Chieh Wu) from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences (DAS) of National Taiwan University (NTU) is leading a research team of “National Priority Typhoon Research Project”, specially funded by the National Science Council (NSC) from year 2002 to 2008. The team has made some important contribution in the observing, modeling and theoretical aspects of typhoon research. Following NTU’s outline of providing extra fund to boost this pioneering research project, we propose to address some of the most critical scientific issues regarding typhoon, namely improving the typhoon prediction with the pioneering targeted observing strategy and platforms, exploring the typhoon-ocean interaction, and investigating the dynamics of typhoon evolution. Other issues regarding the mesoscale structure and the rainfall distribution associated with typhoon near the Taiwan terrain, and typhoon activities from the scale-interaction and climatic perspective would also be addressed in the future as the project is further expanded. The strategy of the project comprises three essential components: hardware, software, and brainware. Namely, in addition to the research fund we have obtained from the major government funding agencies, such as the NSC and Central Weather Bureau (CWB), the NTU funding will be used for the fundamental infrastructure of the typhoon research in NTU, especially for the following three components: First, the procurement of the special observing and computational equipment; second, the support of young scientists and students with great potential, and third, the initiative to promote international research collaboration (including exchange program for students and scientists from junior to senior levels, and the hosting of the international workshop and colloquium).
