The structures of these isolated metabolites were elucidated through extensive spectroscopic analyses, while the relative configuration of 1 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analyses. The chemical evidence combined with spectroscopic and physical data suggested that the locations of the epoxide and the methyl carboxylate for lobophynin C should be exchanged. Moreover, metabolites 1-6 were evaluated in vitro for their cytotoxicity against selected cancer and normal cells lines, antiviral activity against human cytomegalovirus, and antibacterial activity against Salmonella enteritidis. ? 2010 American Chemical Society and American Society of Pharmacognosy.[SDGs]SDG312 carboxy 11z sarcophytoxide; 12 methoxycarboxy 11z sarcophine; antibiotic agent; antineoplastic agent; antivirus agent; cembranoid; ehrenberoxide A; ehrenberoxide B; ehrenberoxide C; lobophynin; sarcophine; sarcophytoxide; unclassified drug; animal cell; antibacterial activity; antineoplastic activity; antiviral activity; article; carbon nuclear magnetic resonance; cell strain HT29; controlled study; drug cytotoxicity; drug isolation; drug structure; embryo cell; human; human cell; Human cytomegalovirus; IC 50; in vitro study; leukemia P 388; lung alveolus cell; marine species; mouse; nonhuman; proton nuclear magnetic resonance; Salmonella enteritidis; Sarcophyton ehrenbergi; X ray diffraction; Animals; Anthozoa; Anti-Bacterial Agents; Antineoplastic Agents; Antiviral Agents; Crystallography, X-Ray; Cytomegalovirus; Diterpenes; Drug Screening Assays, Antitumor; HT29 Cells; Humans; Leukemia P388; Mice; Microbial Sensitivity Tests; Molecular Conformation; Molecular Structure; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Biomolecular; Salmonella enteritidis; Stereoisomerism; Human herpesvirus 5; Salmonella enteritidis; Sarcophyton ehrenbergiiCembranoids from the octocoral sarcophyton ehrenbergijournal article10.1021/np900693r2-s2.0-77749267948WOS:000274803600020
