To proper allocate research resources to achieve our mission, we will support five to six research groups in five key research topics. The proposed five research focuses are (1)The culture and differentiation of stem cell, (2) Mechanisms and pathways control of stem cells, (3) Epigenetic regulation and nuclear transfer (4) Animal model for transplantation, biomedical nanotechnology, and tissue engineering, and (5) Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPS). Three applied technologies with special emphases: (1) Xenotransplantation models, (2) Drug discovery and development, (3) Clinical trial on stem cell therapy. We also chose 8 important areas for future research: (1) embryonic stem cells, (2) pluripotent and mesenchymal stem cells in specific tissues, (3) adult stem cells, (4) germline stem cells, (5) reprogramming, differentiation and morphogenesis, (6) tissue engineering, (7) in vivo imaging techniques (MRI, CT applied on tracking stem cells), and (8) cancer stem cells. In order to integrate human resources and research facilities, we supported 7 Stem cell and Regenerative Medicine Flagship research programs from 2007 to September 2011. These research teams have achieved a remarkable progress. Started in October 2011, 5 Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Frontier Research Programs granted by MOST were launched. The latest research programs started in October 2014 and will end in September 2016.This year, the specific aims for this office are (1) to plan for the future research directions, (2) to inspect research performance and quality of the flagships every season, (3) to hold forum with industry professionals in the field, and (4) to assistant potential international cooperation with leading research groups in the world.幹細胞再生醫學胚胎幹細胞腫瘤幹細胞誘導性多能幹細胞Stem cellRegenerative medicineEmbryonic stem cellCancer stem cellInduced pluripotent stem cell (iPS)Program Project for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (Program Project Execution Office )
