Multipotent coating refers to a reactive coating that is compatible with the simultaneous presentation of multiple biomolecules in controllable ratios. The multifunctional coatings showed excellent chemical stability in a dry-air environment and no significant changes in the composition or chemical behavior was found for samples stored in dry-air atmosphere. Surface ratios were controlled with high precision because the ligand immobilization reactions were conducted independently. The ability to immobilize biomolecules in sequence allowed for combinations of biomolecules that cross-reacted with each other. The study presented a first step towards the establishment of a modular coating design where the properties of a coating can simply be dialed in by selecting the right combination of building blocks for CVD copolymerization.Multipotent polymer coatings based on chemical vapor deposition copolymerizationjournal article10.1002/adma.2005024542-s2.0-33745547005https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-33745547005&doi=10.1002%2fadma.200502454&partnerID=40&md5=d2b82b1985ed0ead9cb0af964654dcbf
