Giorgio Agamben。<br> Abstract: In the past several decades, developments in the fields of life sciences and other related biological and information sciences have brought about tremendous changes to the existence of life. Correspondingly, in recent years, the humanities have also turned their focus toward life itself, endeavoring to interpret the mode of life and structure of subjectivity in the biopolitical or posthuman age and to clarify related ethical issues. Within this context, this reading project invites scholars from different parts of Taiwan to study recent significant theoretical works which deal with the subject of life from a humanistic perspective. Through reading and discussing together works of some influential leading theorists, including Slavoj Zizek, John Johnston, Alain Badiou, Eric L. Santner, and Giorgio Agamben, the group aims to understand and clarify the principal issues in this new research area in order to embark upon related teaching and research projects. This reading project should be able to contribute to Taiwan’s research and teaching in this research area and to enhance productive exchanges and collaborations among scholars coming from different part s of Taiwan.
