2018-01-012024-05-17https://scholars.lib.ntu.edu.tw/handle/123456789/694448摘要：肥胖症（obesity）係指動物體因生理或生化機能改變而引起體內脂肪過度堆積，造成體重增加之病症。全美有近3分之1的犬貓於臨床上被認定有肥胖症。肥胖症會導致伴侶動物壽命減短、關節炎、十字韌帶撕裂、糖尿病、椎間盤疾病，以及甲狀腺功能減退等，影響伴侶動物之生活品質與健康甚鉅，而飼主亦需耗費較多時間、精力與費用來照護為肥胖症所苦之伴侶動物。目前已有許多研究證實一些天然物質具有不易形成體脂肪之保健功效，其原理包括：調節體內脂質分解作用及調節消化道之消化吸收功能。中草藥的療效雖較緩慢，但其副作用低，因此，本計畫擬篩選具有不易形成體脂肪保健功效之中草藥，期能利用天然中草藥開發具有不易形成體脂肪保健功效之伴侶動物健康食品，以改善伴侶動物之肥胖症。<br> Abstract: Obesity occurs when excessive adipose tissue accumulates in the body due to the metabolic and hormone changes. It is estimated that about 1 in 3 about dogs and cats seen by veterinarians were obese. Compared to the non-obese animals, obese animals tend to have a shorter life expectancy and have a higher incidence of osteoarthritis, cruciate ligament injury, diabetes mellitus, intervertebral disc disease, and hypothyroidism. Therefore, the hosts need to spend more time and money to care the obese companion animals. Many studies demonstrated that some compounds from natural sources possess the management of body weight effects. The mechanisms include the modulation of adipose tissue accumulates and decrease the digestion and absorption of nutrients in the body. Most of the Chinese herbal medicines do not cause serious side effects as compared to the Western medicines. Therefore, this project is conducted to screen the Chinese herbal medicines with anti-obesity effects, which will be further developed into a functional food product for the companion animals.肥胖伴侶動物健康食品ObesityCompanion animalFunctional food
