It is also one of the most damaged. Since the Northern Song period, calligraphers not only praise its calligraphy, they also attempt at its restoration. The abundant reproductions, recoveries, and imitations engaging the Yihe ming inscription are comparable to those of “Preface for the Lanting Gathering” (Lanting xu) and “Model Book of the Chunhua Pavilion” (Chunhuage tie). The proposed project will trace the various “restorations” of the text, original appearances, and calligraphic style of the Yihe ming inscription from the Song to the Qing period, through which it intends to investigate how history imagines and understands a demolished ancient calligraphic paradigm.瘞鶴銘摩崖刻石書法典範六朝書法Eulogy for Burying a CraneYihe mingmoya inscriptioncalligraphic paradigm瘞鶴銘刻石的歷代重建與書法典範想像
