Such an effect is commonly ignored. Applying polyelectrolyte reduced the density level of coliform bacteria in the flocculated sludge. Polyelectrolyte also reduced the 5-day biochemical oxygen demand of sludge, possibly retarding the subsequent biodegradation processes. ? 2001 Society of Chemical Industry.BOD 5Effluent treatmentFlocculationMicrobial densitySCODTCODEffects of polyacrylamide on microbial density levels and biodegradability in waste-activated sludgejournal article10.1002/jctb.4212-s2.0-0034975348https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-0034975348&doi=10.1002%2fjctb.421&partnerID=40&md5=cd54523bb41b9a9c76dd0cf975f44b9c
