Actinomyces organisms are important constituents of the normal flora of mucous membranes and are considered opportunistic pathogens. The three major clinical presentations of actinomycosis include the cervicofacial, thoracic, and abdominopelvic regions. Actinomycosis infection in patients with febrile neutropenia is uncommon and actinomycosis splenic involvement in acute leukemia patients is very rare. We describe a man with acute myeloid leukemia and splenic actinomycotic abscess that developed after chemotherapy following prolonged neutropenia.[SDGs]SDG3amoxicillin plus clavulanic acid; amphotericin B; cilastatin; clavulanic acid; cytarabine; fluconazole; idarubicin; imipenem; ticarcillin; tobramycin; vancomycin; abdominal infection; Actinomyces; actinomycosis; acute granulocytic leukemia; adult; anaerobic bacterium; article; bacterial flora; cancer mortality; cancer patient; cancer recurrence; case report; clinical feature; febrile neutropenia; Gram positive bacterium; human; human tissue; leukemia; male; mucosa; mucosa inflammation; nausea; neutropenia; priority journal; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; sepsis; spleen abscess; splenectomy; stem cell transplantation; thorax disease; tissue culture; Actinomycosis; Acute Disease; Antineoplastic Combined Chemotherapy Protocols; Diagnosis, Differential; Humans; Leukemia, Myeloid; Male; Middle Aged; Mycoses; Neutropenia; Opportunistic Infections; Splenic DiseasesSplenic actinomycotic abscess in a patient with acute myeliod leukemiajournal article10.1007/s00277-002-0487-y123733562-s2.0-0036942171
